Goofy Guacamole

Marijuana is the single most used drug in the world with close to 3% of the world’s population consuming it on a regular basis.

Over the last 6 years, legalization has ramped up in America with more than 33 states passing laws to allow the use of cannabinoids, either medicinally or recreationally. Some of the types that can be found in legal markets include flower (also known as ‘bud’ or ‘nugs’), oils, tincture, and edibles.

The cannabis industry has become a very crowded space and businesses need to get super creative if they want to make their mark in the blossoming, multi billion dollar market. This drive for recognition has led to extremely creative products like THC inhalers, THC-A isolate, and an entirely separate industry for hemp-derived CBD, which is a non-psychoactive compound found in the plant.

Today, 11 states plus the District of Columbia have legalized the adult use of cannabis and most of them have dozens of fully operational licensed dispensaries making millions of dollars a year.

One of the biggest breakthroughs, however is the governments acknowledgement that the cannabis plant has real medicinal value and should be studied more closely. Advocates have been pushing for the rescheduling of cannabis at the federal level, which would open the flood gates to the cannabis industry in the U.S. Most believe this is still a long way off but starting to look more realistic every year.

For anyone out there looking to incorporate cannabis into their lives, the initial investigative process can be intimidating and involve a ton of trial and error in order to find the form of the plant that works best with your body. Keep in mind that everyone is different and what works well for one person may not work at all for another.

There are many different ways to medicate with cannabis today, as we mentioned previously, the most popular of which include smoking the buds of the cannabis plant, dabbing cannabis extracts, and eating cannabis infused edibles.

Each method of consumption, also known as ‘Route Of Administration’ (ROA), is slightly different, with the biggest differences being how long it takes to start working and how it is processed by the body. Smoking or Vaporizing is the fastest way to consume cannabis. If you are looking to top off your medication this could be the way to go. However, if you are looking for long lasting relief and the convenience of less doses per day, then edibles are probably meant for you.

In the spirit of ‘keeping it simple’, here is a quick and easy way to make this delicious, healthy and medicated treat! Recipe adapted from Alton Brown’s.

This recipe serves 3-4 people with an approximate dose of 50mg of THC.

Finally, you are going to take the lime juice that you saved in step 1 and add it back into the mix. Once that is done you need to mix one final time. When the lime juice has been thoroughly mixed into the guacamole you can let sit for an hour in the fridge (covered) before it will be ready to serve.
